Family exploring the farm on a guided visit at Save Farm

Family Farm Stay in Palghar

Make room for a different kind of family time.

Stay among the orchard trees, share meals and discover the farm together.

A stay with things to discover.

Save Farm is a 25-acre working chikoo and mango orchard in Gholvad, Dahanu, run by the same family since 1970. Families stay in rooms among the trees, walk the farm with a guide, try rural crafts and share home-cooked meals. There is no alcohol and no loud music, so the farm stays calm for children and grandparents alike.

A room that fits your family

Two parents and a child up to 8 fit in a couple room, and the child stays free. Four of you? Shetkari Niwas is a ground-level family room; Loft Hut has a mezzanine reached by stairs.

A working farm to explore

Walk through chikoo and mango orchards with coconut and litchi trees, a collection of over 400 plant species and a farm lake.

See how the farm works

Children can see the vermi-compost unit, the bees kept for pollination, fish raised in the canals between chikoo rows and the farm's rainwater harvesting.

Rural crafts to try

Two rural activities are included, such as Warli painting or the pottery wheel. Mat weaving, basket weaving and bamboo craft can be added for longer stays or on request.

Simple home-cooked food

Home-cooked Maharashtrian vegetarian meals are included and are not spicy or heavy by default. Non-vegetarian food can be arranged at extra cost.

Close to Palghar

About 1.5 hours by road from Palghar town and 1 hour from Boisar. From Mumbai it is 2.5 to 3.5 hours by road.

Interior of a family room at Save Farm

A family stay with a farm outside the door.

At Save Farm, children see chikoo and mango growing on the trees, see the bees kept for pollination and find out where compost comes from. The farm has grown its crops without chemical pesticides, using organic fertilisers, and it is a government-registered nursery.

Parents can slow down over a guided walk and a meal together. There are shaded spots to sit around the farm, and we have hosted many families with infants and toddlers. Tell us the children's ages when you enquire and we will suggest the activities that suit them.

If you are three, a couple room is usually enough; for four, Shetkari Niwas and Loft Hut are family rooms. Their layouts differ, so view the room photos and discuss access or sleeping needs before booking. Alcohol and loud music are not allowed on the farm.

Packages for this visit

A couple room suits two parents and one young child; a family room sleeps four. Schools, colleges, housing societies and large families of 25 or more can plan a group day visit.
