Dahanu :
Dahanu is an all season tourist destination well connected with cities in Gujarat and Maharashtra by railway and roads. Dahanu and part of Talasari talukas are known for its famous Gholvad Chikoo fruits. Thousands of hectors of land is covered with Chikoo (Saputo, Sapodillas) orchards. Because of evergreen manmade vegetation, Dahanu plays a key role in supporting environment balance of vast areas. Dahanu’s economy is based mainly on its Horticulture produce. Fishing and salt production are also the age-old occupations which support thousands of families
 
The Warlis:
The Warlis are the original inhabitants Dahanu and Talasari’s hilly areas (Jungal Patti) Their houses are made with ‘karvi’ or 'kasar' grass walls covered with a paste of red mud and cow-dung. The floor is too made of mud and cow-dung mixture. To protect the earthen wall coat from heavy rains, the thatched roof is four ways sloping. The Warli Art has also gained world-wide reputation. White paint made out of rice flower and latex of some trees is used to draw figures on a brown earthy surface. The figures mostly involve basic geometric figures viz. squares, triangles and circles. The Warli paintings depict their way of life, their rituals and customs. Warli’s folk dances like Tarpa, Dhol, Bohada are also the peculiar features of their culture. For the sport enthusiasts, Dahanu could be a within reach ideal camping destination. Trekking and venturing out into the surrounding mountains of Barda (Bahrot) (1,760 ft), Mahalaxmi (1,540 ft), Gambhirgad (2,270 ft) and Asherigad (1,680 ft) could prove a paradise for trekkers. Though there is no professional trekker's club here, it would not be difficult to find some tribal youths to accompany you, if you ask for!

Fruit orchards of Dahanu and Talasari, Mahalaxmi temple (34 km), Santoshi Temple, Ashagadh, (12 km), Vaghaya Mandir (Warli Deity) (6 km), Dahanu fortress, Dahanu Fishing port (3 km), Dahanu Chaupati (3km), Bordi beach 12km, Gram bal Shiksha Kendra, Kosbad (6km).
 

Bordi: ‘The village with progressive outlook’, has remained an educational hub of thane District since pre-independence era. This small village has contributed more than 100 freedom fighters to our country. The picturesque sea shore of Bordi lined with Casuarinas is attracting tourists from Maharashtra and Gujarat. Many ‘Home Stay’ options are available around Bordi.

 
Kosbad : Tarabai Modak, ‘The Indian Montessori’, devoted her life for developing models for child education. She, with assistance of her disciple Anutai, set up a novel concept ‘Angan Vadi’ for tribal education. The place is worth visiting to understand work of these visionaries.
